hey, 17/09.

yan and i met up with ms kaur, the lady in-charge at singapore children's society, youth centre (jurong) today. both of us have decided on conducting a dance workshop followed by the decoration of the youth centre.

we would be holding it on a sunday, 17th january 2010 (tentative) if she agrees to it.
i need your contribution, before we liase with her again.

10 to 12pm: hip-hop dance workshop
12 to 1pm: refreshments and lunch
1 to 5pm or earlier: extreme makeover/decoration

everyone, please note. you have to be there for the whole day.
during dance, deco and food people may get the materials ready to start on deco.
after lunch, the whole class will be working on deco, together. may we finish fast.

for dance workshop, eight of us will be teaching the youth hip-hop. the number of participants is up to the response of the youth who frequent the centre. usually, there will be ten or less.

for refreshments, we hope chloe and co. may help us bake cookies, hehe, and they'll be served to the youth. it's also our lunch break, so food people, order pizza maybe?

for the decoration, there's a cosy corner, with wooden table and benches. the table can be painted by acrylic paint with some graffiti design (PLEASE SUGGEST, especially deco people). for the benches, we could place cushions on them to create a more cosy feel (deco people, please check where you can get them).

there are also windows where we're to create noticeboards. we plan to insert styrofoam boards, attach black paper over it, then decorate the border with a simple pattern (a fake twisted wire to surround the edges? IDEAS?).

yan and i have also allocated you all into groups. just let us know if you want to be reallocated.

dance:
reuben (i/c), yan, xiao xuan, alyssa, jasmine, yug han, ying tai, noelle.
if there are too many helping out during dance, you all can switch to deco.

refreshments & lunch:
chloe (i/c), yi min (baking), shaun (baking), earl (bring drinks), perry (bring drinks)
for baking, perhaps cookies or brownies. or if it's too troublesome, you can buy them from some bakery. for drinks, please get perhaps, 4 one-litre bottles of tea/soft drinks.

extreme makeover/deco:
bee cheng (i/c of noticeboards), benedict, christy, glen, padma
janice (i/c of painting), hui yi, shir lin, yuan song
materials will be purchased only when we've confirmed with ms kaur every detail. those under deco, you're in-charge of this and coming up with drawn ideas for the extreme makeover.
board: styrofoam, black paper, plus decoration for the border
painting: acrylic paint, brushes, newspaper

Hey, all.

Yan and I will be meeting up with personnel from SCS this coming Tuesday.
We'll be discussing the recreational activity we're supposed to carry out for a group of youth aged thirteen to eighteen. Yan has suggested Marina Barrage - kite-flying, picnic, etc. We'll see how it goes.

Hopes it works out fine.
As of now, working with St Luke's Hospital has been put on hold.

I really need all the free dates again before Tuesday, so please cooperate.

i've contacted TOUCH community services but they've yet to reply.
will be calling the person in-charge some time this week.
we're requesting to volunteer to accompany the kids on an outing or something similar on 7th january. (if you guys have changes to schedule, please let me know.)

our deadline, by the way, is the second week of the new school term.

if they all don't work out because of lousy schedule, then i'm suggesting salvation army.

i can't seem to find others - you may wish to.
five shifts per day, and one pair of volunteers per shift.
hence, we'll split up according to when we're free individually. makes things easier.

any other idea and connection you guys have? else, we'll just make do with this, since we're pretty much lacking the time and everyone's effort lah hor.

class chalet!

HELLO EVERYONE! here are the updates for class chalet!

check in: Friday, 6th November, 2pm onwards

check out: Sunday, 8th November, 12pm but i think we can ask for extension

After school on Friday, you can choose to proceed directly to the chalet OR you can go home wash up and all first. My parents will be there to help us check in so if you want to go to the chalet directly from school, please let me know!

the money collected from everyone has been used to pay for the chalet and also for the BBQ on 7th November, SATURDAY NIGHT. the BBQ will start at whatever time yall feel like, but please, discuss with the rest of the class before starting the fire k? don't go starting the fire when no one feels like eating or there won't be enough charcoal to last the night. the teachers MIGHT be coming because the staff dinner is actually on FRIDAY NIGHT and i think they are available on SATURDAY NIGHT, though i'm not sure if they still want to come hehe. christy will be passing me the class fund so if yall want to buy anything using the class fund, just let me know too e.g. marshmallows and blah.

all of you will need to bring money to pay for your other meals and whatever you have to spend on. if you cannot make it for the chalet for any reason, please inform me! so far, i've only received replies from Shaun, Christy, Earl and Perry saying they cannot come. do take note, your money will NOT be refunded. also, Juniper might be joining us (: thought yall might want to know (:

those of you who want to bring sleeping bags or whatever, feel free to do so. cause i don't think there will be enough beds to go around x))) and during the whole chalet, be responsible for your own belongings okay!!!!!! go buy insurance if you want to :D

if you have any questions, just drop me an sms or call (: and yes people, THERE WILL BE STINGRAY :D if you want sambal, bring it along k. and bring more so that we can all share :D

Hmm...it's be rather challenging for me to bring a newborn around. She's fine, eat, drink, sleep, cry, wet her diapers, everything a baby would do.

((: and for those of you who don't know yet, her baby's name's Yu Xuan. i think english is Claire. im not sure. so just use yu xuan until u know what's the english name. ((: and xx, if u're reading this, DO NOT TAG about her baby having HALF your name=.= hahahaha.

just wanna say, 1709 rocks. sports carnival has indeed brought us closer, and brought me to realising that this is a class i'd never want to part with. and the good news, we wont have to. congrats to each and everyone of us for being able to promote! ok, i know to some, promoting is like duh. but to some others(like me), it has been a worry. so, dont worry, be happie cause we're promoting as a whole class! woots! (:

and i'd like to give everyone a pat on ur back. we've all worked hard. whether or not the results were good or bad, i know we've all worked hard. so good job guys! and of course, to our tutors who have put effort in some way or another.

ok, that's all i wanna say. jiayou for WR, OP and CHINESE ALEVEL. dun chiong pw until u forget abt chi ok! in approx 10min, there'd onli be 4days left to study for chinese. don't let zhu lao shi down!

alrighty, so i've done the booking for the class chalet already.

Date: 6th to 8th November 2009 (Friday to Sunday)
Venue: ARANDA COUNTRY CLUB chalets, room 2302 (ground floor unit)
Time: 3pm on the 6th till 10 am on the 8th

i think our school holidays only start on 28th November actually. but by then, the chalets are fully booked already cause of christmas and who knows what else.
there will be parental supervision (MY PARENTS!) but they will be in the unit next door. this is just so your parents won't worry or do whatever it is parents do (:
in case there is school on the 6th (friday), people PLEASE DO NOT PON SCHOOL TO GO TO ARANDA EARLY!
we shall all be good and go to school in the morning (: then meet up later in the evening, probably around 6pm, and proceed to the chalet. the timing can be confirmed again closer to the date.
oh yes, i'll say this again, all the group expenses will be taken from CLASS FUND. so even if you can't make it, we will still count in your share. this is to ensure that people WILL turn up for chalet.
if your parents object to you staying over, if you can't make it, or any other objections, please do let me know asap.
oh yes, even if you aren't allowed to stay over in the chalet, i hope yall can still join us for activities over the weekend k?
so the whole class can have breakfast, go out to play the whole day and then rest :D
